Mariner 4 Plan

I have a plan. I have done a lot of things right in my life and – it almost goes without saying – I have made a lot of mistakes. My failure to keep boats and boating as a major aspect of my life has to be in my list: “The Top 10 Mistakes in my Life.” I have a plan, presented here, to rectify that mistake.

Every boat has advantages and disadvantages. Here are my requirements: I enjoy and want to do rowing, motoring, and sailing . I am going to want to be able to load, launch, and use the boat by myself. I would like to carry at least one passenger/crew member. And finally, I want the boat to be capable of going coastwise. The Mariner 4 Inflatable Boat will serve as the boat I will use to get me back into the boats and boating world.

I plan to make modifications to the basic boat. Here are some examples:

I am making a cart so that I can transport the boat and it’s equipment (awning, motors, rigging, sails, etc.) to the water:

This is a couple of images of sailing rigs:

My plan is to use a junk rig:

The Mariner 4 can serve as a dinghy for other boats.

As I make modifications to the basic Mariner 4 and gain experience in its use I will be doing blog posts.
